Frequently Asked Questions
Should a personal chef contract list dietary restrictions?
Yes — in writing. Allergies and dietary needs should be documented so the chef is not liable for reactions caused by undisclosed restrictions.
Who pays for groceries with a personal chef?
The client reimburses the chef for groceries against receipts, typically within a set number of days. Some chefs add a handling fee for shopping time.
What food safety terms should be included?
Proper temperature control, storage, and labeling of meals with dates — plus client instructions to follow the chef's reheating guidance.
Is a personal chef liable for allergic reactions?
Only if the chef ignored the dietary information the client provided. If the client failed to disclose an allergy, the chef is generally not responsible.
